CONSULATE GENERAL OF SEYCHELLES IN SHANGHAI

Our Consulate General in Shanghai was officially opened by Minister Jean Paul Adam (Minister of the Foreign Affairs) and Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government on 13 Oct 2014.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Seychelles in Shanghai is headed by Mr. Sidney To, Acting Consul General; he is also the Minister in the Embassy of Seychelles in Beijing. Jurisdiction of the Consulate General covers Shanghai and the nearby provinces Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui.
 
The Consulate General needs to represent Seychelles in the political, economic, cultural, technical and scientific areas and to contribute to a better knowledge of the history and culture of the Seychellois people and to strengthen friendly relations between Seychelles and Shanghai & these provinces. It is aimed to facilitate the cooperation and cultural exchange of organizations and companies of Seychelles in this region as well as to assist in the launching of investment promotion missions from Seychelles to these areas and vice versa.

The Consulate General itself is under the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in China, we work closely with our Embassy there to promote Seychelles’ political, economic and development objectives at the level of local Government, political leaders, media etc. We also join hands to pursue economic activities particularly relating to trading, investment into the tourism, fisheries, renewable energy, financial services, health, real estate & education sectors of Seychelles.

Minister in the Embassy and Acting Consul General of Seychelles in Shanghai, Mr. Sidney To

Mr. Sidney To, obtained the M.A. from Bradford University, UK (sponsored by Sir. Robert Black Scholarship) and the Master and Ph.D. in Medicine from the Hubei University of Chinese Medicine.
 
Mr. To has joined the Seychelles Government in 1996 as Trade Commissioner of Seychelles in Hong Kong, he established the Trade Commission in Hong Kong to promote investment to Seychelles. Later, in 2007, he assisted the First Ambassador to China for the establishment of the Seychelles Embassy in Beijing. He successively served as the Counselor and Minister- Counselor of the Embassy until he was appointed Minister in the Embassy and Acting Consul General to Shanghai in 2014 to handle the affairs of the Consulate General in Shanghai.
